1. Presentation of lime sapwood

Linden sapwood (Tilia cordata and Tilia platyphyllos) is the soft part of the wood between the bark and the heart of the tree. Used for centuries in phytotherapy, it is renowned for its draining and detoxifying effects, particularly on the liver and kidneys.

2. Origin and habitat

The lime tree is common in Europe and North America. It grows in temperate regions and can reach heights of up to 30 metres. The sapwood is harvested in spring, when the sap rises in the tree and is richest in active ingredients.

Linden sapwood contains flavonoids (tilliroside), tannins, phenolic acids, coumarins and minerals (potassium, calcium, magnesium). These compounds give it purifying and antioxidant properties.

  • Capsules or tablets Generally dosed at between 200 and 400 mg of dry extract per day.

It is advisable to take 2- to 3-week courses of treatment, particularly at the change of season.

  • Not recommended in cases of severe renal impairment.
  • Avoid if allergic to lime.
